Gaizka Mendieta backs Cesc Fabregas to overcome slow start to season

Former Spain international Gaizka Mendieta insists that Cesc Fabregas will get back to his best following a slow start to the new season.

Former Spain international Gaizka Mendieta has backed Cesc Fabregas to overcome his slow start to the season.

The 28-year-old has struggled since the opening day of the Premier League campaign, in which Chelsea have taken just four points from their opening four games.

However, Mendieta believes that his fellow countryman will bounce back from this bad run of form.

"It's difficult to be 100% all of the time in a team that is set up in a way... and all the responsibility that he has," Mendieta told FourFourTwo.

"You can't always be at your peak, sometimes you're not going to be at your best level, but he still has a lot to offer to the team."

Fabregas played 67 minutes in Spain's 2-0 win over Slovakia on Saturday.
