Thierry Henry: 'Don't write off Chelsea'

Thierry Henry feels that it would be a mistake to write off Chelea's chances of retaining their Premier League title despite dropping more points at Newcastle.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has suggested that it is too early to write off Premier League champions Chelsea from defending their title this season.

The Blues' resurgence following an inauspicious start came to an end on Saturday after being held to a 2-2 draw at winless Newcastle United, scoring twice in the last 11 minutes to salvage a point.

It leaves Jose Mourinho's side in 15th, eight points adrift of leaders Manchester United who, along with Arsenal and Liverpool, all won yesterday.

"It's going to be a tricky one," Henry, who won two league titles with the Gunners, told Sky Sports News. "Not only do they need City to drop points, Manchester United and Liverpool also are there, Arsenal too.

"It's going to be a hell of a task but you never know. Two weeks ago, everybody was raving about Man City and now, two weeks later, they are not playing the same way.

"So who knows what can happen in this league."

Goals from second-half substitutes Ramires and Willian spared Chelsea's blushes after Ayoze Perez and Georginio Wijnaldum fired the hosts ahead.

Mourinho's men, who have lost three times, have already dropped 13 points after seven games played.
