Pepe Reina wants Barcelona return

Napoli stopper Pepe Reina welcomes speculation linking him with a return to Barcelona next summer as a replacement for Victor Valdes.

Pepe Reina has declared that it would be "great" to return to Barcelona next season, while admitting that his long-term future remains far from certain.

The Spanish stopper is currently on loan at Serie A giants Napoli after being deemed surplus to requirements by Liverpool, who have made Simon Mignolet their first-choice stopper this season.

Reina has been consistently linked with a switch to boyhood club Barcelona next season, with Victor Valdes out of contract at the Camp Nou in June.

The 31-year-old believes that Barca will currently be weighing up their options in that position, welcoming speculation mentioning his name as a potential signing.

He told Cataluyna Radio: "It would be great to return to Barcelona. I am very happy that my name's being mentioned.

"Nothing has been signed, though. I assume that they have been talking with a lot of goalkeepers and have shortlisted a number of them. We will see what happens next year."

Liverpool have Reina under contract until 2016, with Napoli insisting earlier this week that they have no plans to make his move to Serie A permanent at this stage.
