Jan Vertonghen hails Divock Origi

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen believes that Belgium and Lille forward Divock Origi, who has been linked with Liverpool, would thrive in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has expressed his belief that Belgium teammate Divock Origi has the credentials to thrive in the Premier League.

Origi, 19, has impressed for his country at this summer's World Cup, leading to suggestions that a number of English clubs were preparing moves for the Lille forward.

"He has the qualities to play for a good team in the Premier League and I think he shows it every game," Vertonghen told reporters at a press conference.

"He has come on in every game, and he's changed games for us. He has the qualities to go to a bigger league, but obviously with Lille playing in the Champions League we'll see."

Liverpool reportedly lead the race for the teenager.
