Manchester United will have to pay Everton £20m for Leighton Baines?

Manchester United will reportedly have to pay £20m in January in order to force Everton into selling full-back Leighton Baines.

Everton will reportedly only consider selling full-back Leighton Baines to Manchester United if the Premier League champions are willing to offer £20m.

The England international was heavily linked with a switch to the Red Devils as soon as David Moyes left Everton to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm of Old Trafford.

During the summer, United are said to have lodged bids worth £10m and £12m to test Everton's resolve, but while they were able to nab Marouane Fellaini, the midfielder's teammate Baines stayed put.

A £20m bid in the January transfer window could be the fee that will loosen Everton's hold on the 28-year-old, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Baines has been an Everton player since joining from Wigan Athletic in 2007.
