Charles Green will reportedly quit as Rangers chief executive following an independent investigation.

Rangers chief executive Charles Green has reportedly decided to step down from his role within the financially-stricken outfit.

The 59-year-old has just under 8% of the overall shareholding of the club, which went into administration last year.

It is believed that Green, who became chief executive after purchasing the assets of Rangers Football Club plc, has made the decision to leave due to a number of aspects that has made life difficult at the club over the last few weeks, according to Sky Sports News.

The South Yorkshire-born businessman is also under investigation over claims of covert dealings with former Rangers owner Craig Whyte.

Reports have claimed that Green could leave the club, which were booted down to Scottish Division Three, as early as this afternoon.
