Eugenie Bouchard excited by French Open semi-final appearance

Eugenie Bouchard hopes to enjoy herself in the French Open semi-finals after beating Carla Suarez-Navarro to reach the last four.

Eugenie Bouchard has revealed that she wants to enjoy herself in the French Open semi-finals after beating Carla Suarez-Navarro in the last eight.

The 20-year-old Canadian moved past Suarez-Navarro on Tuesday thanks to a tough three-set victory in Paris.

Bouchard will now take on 2012 champion Maria Sharapova for the opportunity to play in the first Grand Slam final of her career.

"I didn't expect to play such a tough match. She played really well and is a great clay-court player," Bouchard told reporters. "At the end of the third set I thought I was getting the upper hand began to believe that I could win.

"I'm just excited to be in the semi-finals and to stay a little longer in Paris. I'm just going to enjoy myself in the semi-finals."

Bouchard reached her first Grand Slam semi-final earlier this year at the Australian Open before losing out to eventual champion Li Na.
