League Two club Aldershot Town sack manager Dean Holdsworth after two years in charge.

League Two side Aldershot Town have sacked manager Dean Holdsworth after two years in charge at the Recreation Ground.

The Shots are currently two points above the relegation zone in the table following Tuesday's 1-0 win over Torquay United.

"Following a difficult run of results which has returned just seven points from the last seven games and despite Tuesday evenings hard fought result against Torquay United the Board of Directors have today taken the decision to terminate the contract of 1st Team Manager Dean Holdsworth with immediate effect," read a club statement.

Holdsworth left Newport County in January 2011 to take over at Aldershot.
