Gael Clichy: 'Manchester City can learn from Chelsea style'

Gael Clichy believes that Manchester City must learn lessons from the football played by Chelsea this season.

Gael Clichy has claimed that Manchester City can learn lessons from Chelsea after the defence of their Premier League title stalled in the second half of the season.

Despite being on course to lift the title, Chelsea have been criticised for their style of football, but Clichy believes that the leaders have been successful because of their eagerness not to drop points.

"People are saying Jose Mourinho plays defensive football and his team doesn't like to attack," the French defender is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "They've won a lot of games by one goal, but at the end of the day you just look at the trophies.

"Sometimes in football you just need to be able to win games, even when you are not playing well.

"This season there have been times when we have lost games instead of maybe settling for a draw, whereas Chelsea have made sure that if they don't win their games, they don't lose them either. That has been the difference this year."

City are currently 10 points behind Chelsea in second place.
