Chelsea 'renew interest in Wayne Rooney'

Chelsea are reportedly planning to table another bid for Wayne Rooney next summer.

Chelsea have allegedly renewed their interest in signing Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is planning to table another bid for the England forward next summer following reports that the Red Devils are yet to open talks over a new contract, according to The Mirror.

Rooney has 18 months remaining on his current deal, but United have not yet discussed a potential extension with the player despite his good form this term.

The former Everton man is United's top scorer this season with 10 goals in 19 appearances for David Moyes's side, but could head into the summer with just 12 months remaining on his contract.

Mourinho is said to be reluctant to table a January bid for Rooney as he does not believe that he will secure his services for the right market price during the winter window.
