Everton looking to sign Empoli playmaker Riccardo Saponara?

Everton are eyeing a January move for Empoli midfielder Riccardo Saponara, according to reports.

Everton are reportedly lining up a January move for Empoli midfielder Riccardo Saponara.

Roberto Martinez is believed to be looking for a new number 10 and according to the Daily Star, the 42-year-old has sent scouts to watch Saponara three times this season.

The former Italian Under-21 international is under contract until 2018 and has reportedly attracted the attention of Napoli in recent times.

However, it is suggested that the player would prefer a move abroad and sources have told Everton that the 23-year-old could be available for around £4.5m in the winter transfer window.

Saponara has scored three goals in three Serie A games for Empoli so far this season.
