Evian Thonon Gaillard have defeated Bastia 3-0 at home in Ligue 1.
The first chance of the match fell to Bastia in the fourth minute, but Julian Palmieri's header from Yannick Cahuzac's cross was too high.
Three minutes later Anthony Modeste saw his attempt from inside the Evian penalty box saved, and Jeremy Choplin came close in the 15th minute for the visitors.
Bastia continued to call the shots, but it was Evian who broke the deadlock in the 31st minute.
Kevin Berigaud crafted in a cross that Cedric Barbosa headed home from close range.
The visitors were unlucky not to restore parity just two minutes later when Toifilou Maoulida hit the post from inside the penalty box.
Bastia continued to exert pressure on the Evian defence, with Maoulida, Modeste and Cahuzac all coming close.
But it was the home side who took their chance in the 73rd minute, when Yannick Sagbo shot from the left side of Bastia's penalty box after being released by Berigaud.
Evian wrapped up the points in the 78th minute when Barbosa scored his second goal of the evening.
