Curtis Davies hoping to be "indispensable" at Hull City

Curtis Davies reveals his eagerness to become "indispensable" at Hull City after recently losing his place in defence.

Curtis Davies has revealed that he is hoping to become an indispensable member of the Hull City side after recently finding himself on the bench.

The club captain has played a key role since Steve Bruce led the Tigers back to the Premier League, but Michael Dawson and James Chester have partnered each other in central defence in the last two games.

"I'm hoping I can prove to the manager that I'm indispensable," Davies told reporters. "Obviously, it's frustrating because every player wants to be playing - especially when you are the captain.

"I certainly don't think the armband should protect me. I don't want to be the player who people look at and say, 'He's only playing because he's the captain'. I want to be playing on merit."

Reports have linked Leicester City and Sunderland with moves for Davies.
