Liverpool announce Preston North End friendly

Liverpool confirm that they will start their pre-season schedule with a trip to Preston North End on July 19.

Liverpool have confirmed that they will start their pre-season schedule with a friendly against Preston North End on July 19.

The Reds will take on the League One side at Deepdale before flying out to the USA for matches with Roma, Olympiacos, Manchester City and AC Milan.

Legendary Liverpool boss Bill Shankly enjoyed a 16-year playing career with Preston before going into management.

The Merseysiders finished last season in second place in the Premier League table, while Preston were beaten in the semi-finals of the League One playoffs.
