Dejan Lovren has confessed that he has often been at fault for goals conceded, but is hopeful that Virgil van Dijk's arrival can act as a turning point in his Liverpool career.
The 28-year-old has been heavily criticised for many of the Reds' poor defensive showings in the past, most memorably against Tottenham Hotspur in October when hauled off half an hour into the contest at Wembley Stadium.
Lovren has looked far more comfortable alongside Van Dijk since the Dutchman joined in January, though, with Liverpool conceding just once in their last five matches.
Ahead of this weekend's trip to Manchester United, the Croatian centre-back claims that his side's attacking style of play has often left him exposed.
"It is always good to hear some positive things but at the end, if the manager chooses someone else then you are disappointed," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "I think we did quite well, me and him in the last couple of games when we played. We understood each other quite well and hopefully, we can do it also in the future like that.
"I said many times I don't know one player who doesn't make a mistake, especially a defender and especially how we play at Liverpool. We play really offensive football and sometimes you are one against one against top strikers and top strikers. They need just one chance from 10 and if they score then they will blame you or someone else.
"I had many times these wrong decisions that I made, sometimes I can accept it sometimes not because football is like that - but in the end, it depends on yourself and whether you are ready to move on or not."
Liverpool have conceded 32 goals in 29 Premier League matches this term, placing them behind Manchester City, Man United, Tottenham Hotspur, Burnley and Chelsea in the defence charts.
