Jamie Carragher: 'I hope Liverpool sign Wilfried Bony'

Ex-Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher wants to see the Reds sign Swansea City's Wilfried Bony in the January transfer window.

Jamie Carragher has called for Liverpool to sign Wilfried Bony in the January transfer window.

The Swansea City striker scored his eighth goal of the campaign in their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, and Carragher, who retired in May 2013 after 737 appearances for the Reds, wants to see his former club land the Ivory Coast international in the New Year.

He told Sky Sports News: "I hope Liverpool sign him in January. If you look today [at the defeat to Manchester United], Mario Balotelli came on at half time.

"I'm not blaming him, but he cost around about £16m, what would Bony [be sold for?] maybe £20-25m, and it's a transfer I hope happens."

Bony was signed from Vitesse for around £12m back in the summer of 2013.
