Liverpool to sign Aly Cissokho?

Sunderland target Aly Cissokho will snub a move to the North East in favour of Liverpool, according to a report.

Liverpool will beat Sunderland to the signature of Valencia left-back Aly Cissokho, according to a report.

The Shields Gazette claims that the Black Cats are set to be frustrated in their quest for a left-back as the 25-year-old has agreed terms on a season-long loan deal with the Anfield club.

Sunderland manager Paulo Di Canio has been in the market for a left-back since Danny Rose completed his season-long spell in May and returned to Tottenham Hotspur.

Only the out-of-favour Phil Bardsley is a natural full-back on the books at the Stadium of Light and Di Canio has resorted to using the likes of Craig Gardener in a makeshift defence during pre-season.

Should the former Lyon full-back be confirmed as a Liverpool player, then Cissokho will compete with Jose Enrique for a regular starting place.
