Manchester City reportedly identify Stuttgart and France defender Benjamin Pavard as a long-term replacement for Vincent Kompany.

Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Manchester City.

Pavard has spent the last two seasons at Stuttgart, but the 22-year-old has continued to enhance his reputation while representing France at the World Cup.

Stuttgart are keen to keep Pavard in Germany for at least one more season but according to Suddeutsche Zeitung, City are ready to make an approach this summer.

The report suggests that Pep Guardiola would like to make Pavard - who can play at right-back and centre-back - a mainstay of the City defence for years to come.

Pavard has made 57 appearances for Stuttgart since leaving Lille in 2016, and Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also said to be monitoring any developments.
