Jose Mourinho: 'Manchester United will challenge on all fronts by 2020'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes that his side will be challenging on all fronts by the time his extended contract expires in 2020.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said that he expects the club to be challenging on all fronts within the next two years.

Mourinho last week signed a contract extension which will keep him in the Old Trafford hotseat until at least 2020, and should he see that deal out then he will have stayed at United for longer than he has at any other club in one spell.

The Red Devils have so far fallen short of their goal to challenge for the Premier League title under Mourinho, but with a League Cup and Europa League trophy under his belt, the Portuguese boss expects his team to be capable of winning everything by the time his current deal comes to an end.

When asked where he sees the club in 2020, Mourinho told BT Sport: "[To be] better than now. Fighting for what we are fighting now but with different ammunition.

"Are we trying to win every competition? Yes. But probably, we won't. I see us being real contenders for everything. That is what I want to achieve.

"[Manchester] City deserves more credit. With the number of points we have, we would be normally with a distance of four or five and really, really in the fight for the title. We are doing good things. We also deserve a little bit of credit which sometimes we get, sometimes we don't."

United's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur this evening leaves them 15 points adrift of Man City at the top of the Premier League table.
