Manchester United 'monitoring Gary Neville at Valencia'

Manchester United are to keep a close eye on how Gary Neville progresses as manager at Valencia, according to reports.

Manchester United are reportedly keeping an eye on how well Gary Neville performs as Valencia manager.

It is believed that United are not looking to replace current manager Louis van Gaal but according to BBC Sport, they are to begin their search for a successor when the Dutchman's contract expires in 2017.

It has been suggested that the 40-year-old and current assistant manager Ryan Giggs will come under consideration, along with a number of experienced candidates that will be interested in the role when it become available.

Both Van Gaal and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward contacted Neville this week to wish him well, and it is understood that his knowledge of United and the Premier League will help should he succeed with Los Che.

Neville will take his first game in charge of Valencia on Tuesday when they host Lyon in the Champions League.
