Premier League clubs join race to sign Manchester United stopper Sam Johnstone?

Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion and Huddersfield Town all reportedly join the race to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for three clubs in the Premier League.

After a loan spell with Aston Villa, the West Midlands outfit were said to be keen on securing his services on a permanent basis, before Middlesbrough allegedly held talks earlier this week.

However, according to The Sun, Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion and Huddersfield Town have also shown an interest in the 24-year-old.

Both Leicester and West Brom would potentially see Johnstone as their number-two goalkeeper, with Kasper Schmeichel and Ben Foster both established at the King Power Stadium and The Hawthorns respectively.

Huddersfield may appear his best option for first-team football, but their interest may depend on their pursuit for Liverpool stopper Danny Ward, who helped the club to promotion last season.

Johnstone has not made a senior appearance at Old Trafford, but he has spent loan spells at the likes of Villa, Preston North End and Doncaster Rovers.
