US attorney general Loretta Lynch has claimed that more charges could be brought against FIFA officials.
The world football governing body was thrown into turmoil earlier this year when 14 individuals were indicted on alleged racketeering charges.
Since the news first broke in May, top boss Sepp Blatter has announced his intention to stand down from his position just days after being reinstated.
As part of a separate investigation being carried out by Swiss authorities, properties in the Alps have been seized in an attempt to uncover further evidence of wrongdoing.
Speaking to reporters, Lynch said of the latest developments: "The scope of our investigation is not limited, and we are following the evidence where it leads.
"I am grateful for the significant co-operation and substantial evidence that we have received from all quarters."
Lynch would not comment when asked if Blatter was part of a wider investigation being conducted by US authorities.
