Steve Kean: 'David Moyes will thrive at Real Sociedad'

Former Real Sociedad assistant Steve Kean backs David Moyes to enjoy success with the Spanish club.

Former Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean believes that David Moyes will be a success at Real Sociedad.

Kean was Chris Coleman's assistant at the Spanish club during the 2007-08 season, and the Scot has claimed that Sociedad are a "very similar club to Everton".

"I spoke to David yesterday and he's very excited so I think it's a great move for him," he told Sky Sports News.

"It just seems to fit, the way the club is, and he'll find the work ethic of the players amazing. The Basque players love to work hard and that fits in with how David coaches.

"I know him well and he's always wanted to work abroad and he'll see this as a massive opportunity. Sociedad is a club that is very similar to Everton, although not so much with Manchester United."

Moyes, who was sacked by Manchester United in April, officially took charge of Sociedad late on Monday evening.
