Victor Wanyama bemoans Mauricio Pochettino exit

Victor Wanyama expresses his displeasure at Mauricio Pochettino's departure as manager of Southampton.

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama has insisted that the club's owners should have done more to keep manager Mauricio Pochettino on the South Coast.

Following days of speculation, it was confirmed last night that the Argentine had been appointed the new boss of Tottenham Hotspur on a five-year deal.

Speaking about the departure, Kenyan international Wanyama told Capital Sports: "I learnt a lot from him, he taught me more and that's why I have grown as a player and there is a big difference compared to when I was at Celtic.

"He played a big role in my career development. I wanted him to remain because he had the passion for the club and I think the owners should not have let him go because the team can do better next season."

Former Switzerland international Murat Yakin is the current favourite with the bookmakers to replace Pochettino.
