Seattle Sounders Sigi Schmid insists that there is nothing concrete to reports linking Clint Dempsey with a move to the club.

Seattle Sounders coach Sigi Schmid has played down rumours of a summer swoop for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Clint Dempsey.

The 30-year-old was pictured at San Francisco airport last night, fuelling speculation that the USA international may leave White Hart Lane this summer.

Schmid told local radio station 950 KJR-AM: "We're always interested in good players, first off and foremost. That's the number one thing our fans need to know.

"We're always interested in good players. But right now there's really nothing to it.

"You can never close the door on anything, but right now there's nothing that's nailed down and concrete.

The 60-year-old did confirm that Seattle are looking to add "something significant" before the Major League Soccer transfer window closes on August 8.
