Sunderland and Swansea City played to a goalless draw in the Premier League this evening.
The visitors saw the majority of the ball in the opening half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Martin O'Neill's side came out fighting after the break, dominating the start of the second half, before Swansea fought back.
Read how all the action unfolded below:
Good evening! It's around 45 minutes until kickoff at the Stadium of Light between two teams hovering around mid-table in the Premier League.
Let's start by taking a look at the starting lineups for both sides...
SUNDERLAND XI: Mignolet, Gardner, Colback, O'Shea, Bramble, N'Diaye, Vaughan, Larsson, Johnson, Sessegnon, Fletcher
SWANSEA XI: Tremmel, Tiendalli, Williams, Chico, Davies, Britton, de Guzman, Hernandez, Dyer, Michu, Shechter
The big news for Swansea is that Michel Vorm is not fit, having sustained a "minor knee problem" according to the club's website. The keeper has also been linked with a move away from the Liberty Stadium. Gerhard Tremmel isn't short of match fitness though, he's been in goal for Swansea's run to the final of the Capital One Cup.
Danny Graham also misses out on a place in the starting lineup. He'll be on the substitute bench for Swansea, with some reports suggesting he could be heading to the Stadium of Light before the transfer window closes.
Martin O'Neill has kept the faith with the side that beat Wigan 3-2 last weekend, with Danny Rose, Carlos Cuellar and Lee Cattermole all still out through injury.
Ahead of tonight's game, Swansea manager Michael Laudrup told the club's website: "We never have any fear, but we always respect the opponent, but we go into Tuesday's game with confidence having already won six away games this season."
Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill is full of praise for tonight's opponents, telling the club's website: "They have done fantastically, following on from last season's first attempt in the Barclays Premier League. They've kept the momentum going through a change of manager without any real change in style. Everyone there seems to be particularly happy."
The hosts are one of the in-form sides in the Premier League. Only Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have scored more points in their last six games.
Meanwhile, Swansea have been draw specialists of late, taking a point from four of their last six games. Only Southampton have more draws in recent weeks.
Three of the last four sides to go to Sunderland have left without a goal, while the Swans have not netted in three of their last four away games.
Sunderland's defenders will likely be keeping an eye on Michu, who has 13 league goals this season. However, the Spanish striker has been having a bit of a goal drought of late, not scoring in a league match since before Christmas.
Last time out in the Premier League, Sunderland edged a 3-2 win over Wigan, while Swansea took a 3-1 home victory against Stoke City.
Sunderland have not played in 10 days, having been knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round. Swansea also had the weekend off, but did have a league cup semi-final against Chelsea last Wednesday.
The weather could play a factor tonight. Forecasts suggest it's currently around 10°C, but it's expected to drop to a rather bracing 5°C, with rain throughout the match. Lovely!
Last-minute words from the manager, courtesy of Sky Sports News. Martin O'Neill said: "We've got a bit of confidence from a couple of wins and that seems to have carried on."
Michael Laudrup was asked whether Danny Graham is focused on tonight's match. Laudrup said: "He's 100% professional, even if I've only worked with him seven months I've learned enough to know that."
Andre Marriner is the referee for tonight's game, with Peter Kirkup and Sian Massey as the assistants and Lee Probert is the fourth official.
The players are on the pitch and ready to go.
The hosts kick the game off.
Sunderland are on the attack from the start, but some solid defending by the visitors ensures that they don't get too close to their goal.
Ben Davies gives away a free kick near the sideline around 35 yards out. The ball is curled towards the Swansea penalty area, but Michu is back to make the clearance.
Swansea are finding their way in to the game now, pressing in to the Sunderland half of the pitch for the first time. Hernandez crosses the ball to Shechter, who is closely marked by John O'Shea. The Swansea striker ends up on the grass, but his penalty appeal falls on deaf ears. It didn't look like there was anything wrong with O'Shea's marking.
Replays show that there is a bit of contact between the two men, but not enough to have brought Shechter down.
Swansea are on the attack again, but a wild cross from Davies goes out. Bright starts by both sides so far.
Bramble lobs the ball towards the Swansea goal, but there's far too much power behind the ball, and it sails well long of all of his teammates and out for a goal kick.
Swansea close in on the final third of the pitch again, but N'Diaye steals the ball away, and Sunderland launch a counter attack. This is N'Diaye's first appearance at the Stadium of Light by the way.
CHANCE! Swansea get the ball back and charge down the pitch, eventually crossing to Nathan Dyer. His effort goes well high, but it's the first real chance from either side so far in this match.
Sessegnon presses up the pitch and is looking to get the cross in, there are few option open but he is able to force a corner. Tremmel comfortably takes the deliver though, and sets Swansea back off up the other end of the pitch.
CHANCE! On the counter, the ball falls to Michu, and his strike takes a deflection to give Swansea a corner. De Guzman delivers the ball, but it's cleared by the home side's defence, although Swansea are back on the attack again.
After a strong couple of minutes from Sunderland at the start of this game, it's mainly been Swansea doing the pressing.
CHANCE! After a lengthy build up, Chico gets the shot away. It looks like it might have been going wide anyway, but Mignolet doesn't take the risk, tipping it wide for a corner. De Guzman fires the ball back in, and the hosts eventually get it clear. Sunderland are living dangerously at the back at the moment.
CHANCE! Dyer slides the ball in to Tiendalli, but his shot is directly to Mignolet, and it's an easy save for the Belgian.
BOOKING! Tiendalli takes his frustrations for his missed effort out on Adam Johnson, hacking him down as they raced down the wing. Tiendalli was shown a yellow for the tackle, while Sunderland were given a free kick out wide on the edge of the area. Swansea's defenders are sharp though, and easily get the ball away.
The ball falls for Fletcher, but he has Williams for company, and the Swansea defender manages to knock the ball back to Tremmel. Swansea have kept Fletcher particularly quiet at the start of this game.
Gardner passes the ball forwards towards N'Diaye, but he puts too much power behind the ball, and the new signing can't get on it in time, letting the ball roll out for a goal kick.
Sunderland are having their best spell in possession since the opening minutes, which is sensed by the crowd who burst in to life, but Swansea re-group and take the ball away again.
Gardner charges up the field for Sunderland, but runs out of space just past the half way line, and with none of his teammates free he has to go backwards. Eventually, the hosts get the ball forward, and N'Diaye tries to team up with Fletcher, but the striker fears he may be offside, and doesn't push to get the pass.
Dyer gets the ball on the edge of the Sunderland area and tries a pass to set up Tiendalli, but the defender is heavily marked, and Sunderland get the ball away.
Swansea look to get the ball to Michu, but Gardner is on hand to make sure the Spaniard's league goal drought continues. Chico attempts an ambitious strike, but it's well off-target, giving Sunderland a goal kick.
Hernandez and Dyer teammate for some stunning build-up play near the corner flag, and are unlucky not to be able to get a cross away. However, as soon as Sunderland clear they lose the ball, and Swansea are coming at them again.
Dyer looks to slide the ball in to the box, but O'Shea manages to force the ball out to the half way line. So far, Swansea have had seven shots, while Sunderland are yet to have an attempt at the visitors' goal.
Davies sprints down the wing before crossing, eventually finding De Guzman, but his shot from the edge of the area lack power. Sunderland make a partial clearance but wave after wave of Swansea attack keeps coming at Sunderland, whose goal is living a charmed life at the moment.
Tiendalli and Johnson come together heading towards the corner flag, but the Swansea defender is forced to back off having already been booked.
Sessegnon is brought down around 25 yards out, giving the home side a free kick. Gardner and Larsson line up by the ball. It's Gardner who takes the shot, but he gets his foot too far underneath the ball, spooning it well high. His efforts are usually much better than that.
Sunderland have one of their better moves of the half. Sessegnon gets the ball in midfield, and picks out Johnson to the left of the penalty area, but the winger drifts offside.
Swansea are immediately on the counter attack, and Sunderland have to get number behind the ball to ensure that they don't fall behind just before half time. Hernandez eventually finds Michu, but his effort is deflected, and Swansea have a corner.
De Guzman's delivery is cleared to the edge of the area, and Dyer attempts a spectacular strike, but it's blocked. Play is stopped as Williams goes down after being caught around the head by a flailing arm, he looks alright though.
Sunderland are finishing the half strongly, pushing towards the Swansea goal, but the visitors get the ball back courtesy of a foul, and that's about it for the first half.
HALF-TIME: Sunderland 0-0 Swansea
Sunderland will consider themselves very lucky to have gone in level. Swansea were all over them in that opening 45 minutes, and the Black Cats seemed to have little in response.
Hernandez, Dyer and De Guzman have all looked strong in the opening period for the Welsh side, while defender Dwight Tiendalli has also looked pretty handy in a more attacking role.
Swansea may feel that they should have been awarded a penalty early on in the game, but replays suggest that there was minimal contact between Shechter and O'Shea. If he'd wanted to, Itay Shechter could have stayed on his feet.
Sunderland have not looked particularly threatening on the attack, creating just two chances during the opening 45 minutes to Swansea's 11. Adam Johnson and Stephane Sessegnon looked sharp when the ball fell to them, but their opportunities were few and far between.
The Swans had 53% of the possession during the first half, but it felt like a lot more. The majority of Sunderland's 47% will have come from trying to get the ball out of their own half.
If Sunderland don't improve after the break, Martin O'Neill will almost certainly be looking to make early changes. Michael Laudrup will be fairly happy with the 11 players that he put out, but will need them to be more clinical in front of goal. Maybe Danny Graham could come off the bench if the scores remain level.
The players are back out on the pitch. John O'Shea appears to have brought a chocolate bar on to the pitch with him. Maybe that will help Sunderland's performance.
Swansea get the second half underway.
Sunderland have a bit more urgency about them at the start of the second half, Sessegnon striding to the edge of the Swansea penalty area early on.
The ball falls to N'Diaye on the edge of the penalty area, but he rushes his shot, and it's an easy save for Tremmel.
Sessegnon is looking creative down the left-hand wing and forces a corner, but it's quickly cleared by Swansea. A much brighter spell from the home side.
Sunderland are continuing to push, but they put the ball out for a goal kick. Tremmel clears the ball to the half way line, but Johnson shows some brilliant footwork along the sideline as he sets up a chance for the hosts, resulting in another corner.
Larsson fires the ball in, Tremmel comes off the line to punch the ball clear of the penalty area but it's Sunderland who retain possession. Whatever O'Neill said to them at half time has worked!
Another surge from the home side resulting in a goal kick from Tremmel. De Guzman gets on the end of it, finding Michu, who passes to Hernandez. A good spell of passing by the Welsh side takes the ball in to the box, but they can't get a shot away. That's Swansea's first spell of possession in this half.
BOOKING! Leon Britton sees yellow after dragging down a charging Sessegnon. Sunderland have a free kick around 35 yards out.
Tiendalli and Colback take the ball behind as Swansea go on the attack. The Swans defender stays down for a little while after a heavy landing near the ad hoardings, but it looks like he's ok to carry on. Sunderland get the goal kick.
Swansea get a free kick just outside the penalty area. De Guzman lines it up, aiming directly for goal, but it edges high, catching the roof of the net.
SUBSTITUTION! Swansea make the first change of the game, Shechter making way for Sung-Yueng Ki.
Vaughan looks to cross the ball to Johnson, but Ashley Williams just gets a heel to it, getting the ball away. Sunderland immediately try to get the ball back in the Swansea area, Williams conceding a free kick by fouling Sessegnon.
Gardner looks to make amends for his poor effort in the first half, this time managing to keep the ball low, but the shot lacks power and slowly bobbles wide, Tremmel watching it all the way.
SUBSTITUTION! Pablo Hernandez goes off, and Roland Lamah comes on for Swansea
SUBSTITUTION! Sunderland make their first change, switching N'Diaye for James McClean.
CHANCE! Lamah's impact is almost immediate, as Gardner mis-times a backpass to Mignolet, which the Osasuna loanee almost gets a foot too, but the Sunderland keeper manages to pounce on the ball just in time.
CHANCE! Swansea are starting to look a little more dangerous here. After some nice build-up by the whole team, it's Ki who has the effort, with a powerful shot from range. The effort is low and powerful, and needs a good save from Mignolet.
A looping pass falls to Fletcher, whose first touch is good, but he's being marked closely, and he loses the ball.
BOOKING! McClean is shown a yellow card for simulation. There was a little contact from Chico, but it was a theatrical fall.
SUBSTITUTION! Leon Britton has been taken off by Swansea and it's Danny Graham who comes on. Some reports suggest he'll be getting a lot more familiar with the Stadium of Light in the not too distant future, but has he got one more goal for Swansea in him?
Lamah taps the ball to Ki, who has another go from range, but this time it's well high.
Sunderland get a free kick near the sideline around 35 yards out, but his effort is delayed by a scuffle between Chico and O'Shea. Eventually, the ball is delivered to McClean, but the visitors get the block in and go on the counter.
CHANCE! Danny Graham is dragged to his knees by Titus Bramble, giving Swansea a free kick near the half-way line. The kick results in a blistering run in to the box from Michu, who picks out Dyer, but his effort goes wide.
Swansea are on the attack again, but Graham just drifts offside. This is really the first time in the match where both sides have been fairly even.
Fletcher catches Chico in the Swansea area, and the Spaniard stays down for some time. Swansea have used all of their substitutes already so they'll be keen to make sure he continues.
SUBSTITUTION! Adam Johnson is taken off, Connor Wickham taking his place for Sunderland.
Colback wins the ball back from Swansea, but is judged to have given Dyer a shove in the process, and the visitors get the ball back.
It's not been the most fluid spell of the game in the last few minutes. Both sides seem aware that a goal now would likely be enough to win the game, while conceding would result in a loss.
CHANCE! Swansea win a free kick just outside the area. The ball is looped in towards Danny Graham, but Mignolet just gets his hands to it first, preventing a close range tap in from the Swansea forward.
A messy touch from Vaughan gives Swansea the ball inside the Sunderland half. The Welsh side get the ball to Danny Graham, but his first touch is poor and Sunderland take the ball away again.
CHANCE! Chico intercepts a pass well inside the Sunderland half and charges towards the goal, tapping the ball to Tiendalli, who goes for goal himself, but the effort is well wide. There are three minutes of stoppage time.
It's all Swansea in these final minutes. Danny Graham has a chance to get the winner from close range with Mignolet off his line, but Bramble manages to get himself in the way.
FULL-TIME: Sunderland 0-0 Swansea
For a goalless draw that was a thoroughly entertaining game of football. Swansea's dominant showing in the first half was matched by a equally one-sided display at the start of the second from Sunderland, before both sides shared the possession in the final 15 minutes.
The visitors certainly saw the best of the chances, but Sunderland's defenders held strong. The points moves Swansea up to eighth in the table, while Sunderland remain in 11th.
