Owen Coyle hails Nick Powell potential

Wigan manager Owen Coyle believes that on-loan Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell has "vast" potential.

Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle has hailed the potential of on-loan midfielder Nick Powell.

Powell joined Wigan on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United on deadline day and has already played five times for the Latics, scoring one goal.

The 19-year-old was named in the starting lineup for tonight's Europa League match against Maribor, and Coyle spoke before kickoff of the level of potential he sees in the youngster.

"The potential of Nick Powell is vast. I've worked with very talented players like Daniel Sturridge and Jack Wilshere," Coyle told BT Sport.

"We're determined to get everything out of him so he's a better player when he goes back to United."

Wigan are looking for their first Europa League win of the season tonight having drawn 0-0 with Zulte Waregem in their opening match.
