Kenny Jackett: 'Matt Doherty could return next week'

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett reveals that defender Matt Doherty could return from injury next weekend.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has revealed that Matt Doherty's hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared.

The defender went off injured after 34 minutes of his side's 2-0 win over Oldham Athletic on Tuesday evening, but Jackett is confident that the Irishman will be available for the home match with Stevenage.

The 51-year-old told the Express & Star: "Matt won't make the weekend, but his injury is not as bad as first thought. I think that he has a chance for next week.

"We've done well with injuries so far this season, and haven't lost our regular players for any length of time.

"And we wouldn't want to lose Matt for too long because he's been an important player for us."

Doherty has made 11 appearances for the Molineux outfit this season.
