Wolverhampton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers share spoils

Dean Saunders sees Wolverhampton Wanderers draw 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers at Molineux in his first game in charge of the club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have drawn 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers at Molineux in new manager Dean Saunders's first game in charge of the club.

Jordan Rhodes scored a penalty to give the visitors a first-half lead, but Roger Johnson headed home with 15 minutes left to earn Wolves a point in the Championship clash.

Rhodes was denied by Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme in the opening stages before Jake Kean kept out Kevin Foley's effort at the other end.

Rovers took the lead from the penalty spot in the 24th minute following Bakary Sako's dubious foul on Ruben Rochina.

The midfielder was adjudged to have tripped the Spaniard and Rhodes calmly slotted in from the spot to score his 14th goal of the season.

Sako came close to making amends at the start of the second half when he almost scored directly from a corner, but Danny Murphy was on hand to head the ball off the line.

Wolves finally grabbed an equaliser in the 73rd minute as Johnson nodded in substitute Jamie O'Hara's deep cross.
