Thomas Muller: 'Bayern Munich will respect Arsenal'

Thomas Muller rules out the chance of Bayern becoming complacent ahead of tonight's last-16 Champions League clash with Arsenal at the Allianz Arena.

Thomas Muller has ruled out the prospect of Bayern Munich becoming complacent ahead of tonight's last-16 Champions League clash with Arsenal at the Allianz Arena.

The Bavarians are firm favourites to progress to the quarter-final stage of the competition after securing a first-leg 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium three weeks ago.

Pep Guardiola's men recorded their 16th consecutive Bundesliga victory on Saturday with a 6-1 win away to Wolfsburg but, despite all the signs pointing to a comfortable evening in Munich, Muller says that the team cannot afford to underestimate the Gunners.

"Thinking about the character of our team, we have won our last 16 games in the Bundesliga," the Germany international told reporters.

"We always turn up - everybody always wants to win. We are not careless or arrogant. We always concentrate and want to win.

"We respect all opponents in the Champions League. I have learned how to have respect. Talking about Arsenal or other teams who are in the European elite, you have to have respect."

Tonight's encounter is scheduled to kick off at 7.45pm.
