Pep Guardiola: 'Bayern Munich must stop Mesut Ozil'

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola warns his team of the dangers involved in allowing Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil to "control the game" tonight.

Pep Guardiola has warned Bayern Munich of the dangers involved in allowing Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil to "control the game" ahead of tonight's Champions League tie.

The Bavarians are firm favourites to progress to the quarter-final stage of the competition after recording a 2-0 first-leg win at the Emirates Stadium three weeks ago - a game which included a missed penalty from the Germany international.

However, Ozil scored one and bagged two assists in the Gunners' 4-1 FA Cup win over Everton at the weekend, and Guardiola says that "big problems" will arise for his team should they fail to combat the playmaker at the Allianz Arena.

"They have [Per] Mertesacker, [Tomas] Rosicky, [Kieran] Gibbs, [Mikel] Arteta a lot of very good players," he told reporters.

"I do not want to see Ozil control the game. That will be a big problem for us. People think '2-0 you don't have a chance in Munich', but that's the main problem for us."

Tonight's second leg is scheduled to kick off at 7.45pm.
