Everton manager Roberto Martinez says that on-loan striker Gerard Deulofeu has been keen to get to work with his new teammates.

Roberto Martinez has revealed that Gerard Deulofeu has not enjoyed his time resting ahead of pre-season training with Everton.

The teenage striker, who has joined the Toffees on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona, was given an extended break after competing in the Under-20 World Cup with Spain earlier this summer.

The manager told the club's official website: "Gerard is joining us after his time in the World Cup with the Under-20s with Spain.

"He's had a bit of time to refresh, to switch off, but I'm well aware that he hasn't enjoyed that part. He's been raring to come to Finch Farm and to get to know everyone."

Deulofeu trained with the Everton squad for the first time yesterday and will travel to the United States for their pre-season tour.
