Theo Walcott taking return to action slowly following knee injury

Arsenal frontman Theo Walcott suggests that he will take his time as he aims to regain full fitness having recently come back from a serious knee injury.

Arsenal striker Theo Walcott has revealed that he plans to take his comeback from injury slowly as he attempts to regain full fitness.

The England international recently made his return for the club after a long-term knee injury, with the adaptable frontman only featuring in four games for the Gunners this season.

"I like to work week by week, so I forget about the big picture and the nine months [out]," Walcott told the club's official website.

"Week by week, hitting the goals and when you have achieved that, you can feel good about hitting something else. You need to just come into training with a smile on your face, enjoy it and that's all you can do.

"I remember when I had one of my injuries before, I came in down in the dumps and rehab seemed to take so much longer.

"You don't want that, you want to come in and feel like you're doing something each day. Even though it might be the same things at the start, you benefit when it comes to the end of it."

Arsenal currently hold sixth position in the Premier League table.
