Deportivo La Coruna move away from La Liga drop zone

Deportivo La Coruna record a 1-0 win over Elche to move away from the drop zone in La Liga.

Deportivo La Coruna moved three points away from the La Liga drop zone with a 1-0 win over Elche at La Riazor this evening.

Luis Farina's 22nd-minute goal was enough for Depor, who moved to 16th with the victory over the bottom side.

Toche went close early on with a couple of headed chances before Depor took the lead that their play merited.

Farina grabbed the winner when he made the most of a poor attempt at a headed clearance to curl into the top corner inside the box.

Jonathas almost evened the score up on the hour mark before Jose Rodriguez went close for Deportivo, but it was Farina's goal that was the difference.
