Slyvain Distin hoping for new signings

Sylvain Distin believes that Everton need to add some more players before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Everton defender Sylvain Distin has expressed his wish to see new additions arrive at the club before the close of the summer transfer window.

Despite having a reported restricted budget to work with, manager David Moyes is believed to be eager to add to his squad.

With Steven Pienaar said to be close to sealing a return to Goodison Park, French defender Distin believes that even more bodies will need to be recruited to ensure that the Toffees remain competitive.

"You always need to strengthen," Distin told Sky Sports News. "Any manager, or any team, would not want any players. We have still got a small squad and we would definitely like to add some players.

"The most important thing is to keep the players we have got - that's my personal point of view.

"If we can have players like Steven Pienaar coming back to the club, that would be great."

Distin was talking at the end of his side's 4-1 pre-season friendly win over Morecambe earlier today.
