Preview: Kidderminster Harriers vs. Halifax Town - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's FA Cup clash between Kidderminster Harriers and Halifax Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two non-league sides will face off on Sunday with a place in the third round of the FA Cup at stake when Kidderminster Harriers host Halifax Town.

Both teams enter the contest in fine form, with Kidderminster unbeaten in their last nine competitive fixtures, while the visitors have suffered just one defeat in their last six matches.

For the first time since the 2013-14 season, Kidderminster will feature in the second round of the FA Cup, and they will be aiming to replicate the run to the fourth round that they managed in that campaign.

Russell Penn's side have already negotiated four FA Cup ties this season, and they set up Sunday's encounter with a 1-0 victory over Grimsby Town thanks to Ashley Hemmings's spot-kick.

The National League North side have not tasted defeat since October 9, and their current nine-match unbeaten run sees them enter Sunday's contest in confident mood.

They will be looking for another victory in a cup competition after winning on penalties in the FA Trophy last weekend after their encounter with Hereford had finished 1-1 in regular time.

With 20 goals in their last six league games, Kidderminster will be confident of knocking out another National League opponent on Sunday.

Halifax will play a second-round tie for the first time since the 2018-19 season, but they failed to progress on that occasion - losing 2-1 to AFC Wimbledon.

The Shaymen have negotiated two FA Cup ties to reach the second round, and their meeting with Maidenhead United in the first round was an 11-goal thriller.

Those at the Shay Stadium were treated to an exciting encounter that saw Pete Wild's side emerge as 7-4 winners to seal their place in the second round draw.

Like Sunday's opponents, Halifax are also in a rich vein of form, having won four of their last six matches in all competitions.

Although a home draw would have been preferred, the Shaymen will not be fearful of an away trip on Sunday given as they look to win their third consecutive away game.

Team News

Hemmings has top-scored for Kidderminster in the league this season, and he will be crucial for the hosts.

Although, Penn's side have not had to rely solely on Hemmings with Sam Austin scoring seven league goals this season, and he will also be aiming to play a pivotal role on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Halifax's Billy Waters has scored five goals in his last four games, and the visitors will be hoping that he can continue his fine goalscoring form.

Jordan Slew has seven league goals to his name this season, and with three goals in his last two appearances, he will be in a confident mood heading into the weekend's contest.

Wild could name an unchanged side from the one that won away to Torquay last weekend.

Kidderminster Harriers possible starting lineup:
Simpson; Penny, Bajrami, Cameron, Richards; Sterling-James, Martin, Carrington, Hemmings; Austin, Morgan-Smith

Halifax Town possible starting lineup:
Johnson; Maher, Debrah, Senior; Warren, Green, Warburton, Spence, Vale; Waters, Slew

We say: Kidderminster Harriers 1-1 Halifax Town

Both sides enter the contest in excellent form, and will see this as an excellent opportunity to reach the third round, but we think that a replay may be needed to separate the two teams with Sunday's encounter ending all square.
