Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Liverpool could line up for Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Benfica.

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold could return to the first XI for his side's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Benfica at the Estadio da Luz on Tuesday night.

The England international has made a rapid recovery from a hamstring issue that was initially expected to keep him out for "weeks", and he could displace Joe Gomez - who did hold the fort well against Watford - at the back.

Curtis Jones (ankle) and Joel Matip (head) ought to be fine despite their knocks in the 2-0 win over the Hornets, and Naby Keita's return from a knee injury means that Klopp has a fully-fit squad available to him.

Ibrahima Konate is on standby should the Reds take caution over Matip's "golf ball" sized head wound, but the Cameroonian should partner Virgil van Dijk on Tuesday night.

Fabinho was named on the bench on Saturday following the international break but came on to rifle a penalty into the top corner, and he should be a straight swap for Jones in the middle.

Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara will expect to hold their spots for a game of this magnitude, but Jurgen Klopp has a massive call to make in the final third, where Diogo Jota's spot is seemingly safe.

Mohamed Salah was not his usual self on Saturday, and with Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz providing fresher options, the Egyptian could very well be rested from the first whistle ahead of Sunday's top-of-the-table Premier League clash with Manchester City.

Liverpool possible starting lineup: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Jota, Mane, Diaz
