Manchester United's Robin van Persie escapes punishment following an altercation with Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

The Football Association have confirmed that they will be taking no further action on Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.

Reports had claimed that the Dutch international could be punished for an altercation with Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye during yesterday's 3-0 victory for the Red Devils.

Van Persie appeared to aim his arm in the direction of Cabaye as he made a run into the Newcastle box. Cabaye went down clutching his face but referee Howard Webb and his assistants missed the incident.

However, having reviewed the incident, the FA are satisfied that no offence was committed by Van Persie.
