Juventus 'blocked Manchester United's Arturo Vidal move'

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta reveals that the Serie A champions blocked Manchester United's summer move for Artuto Vidal.

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta has revealed that Manchester United were looking sign Arturo Vidal last summer, but the Italian champions refused to let the midfielder leave.

The Red Devils have claimed that they did not approach the Old Lady regarding the Chilean's availability, despite being heavily linked with a move.

However, Marotta has said that Juve blocked the transfer as they did not want Vidal to leave, and has insisted that the Serie A side are under no pressure to sell him or coveted midfielder Paul Pogba.

He is quoted by the Manchester Evening News as saying: "We didn't want to give Vidal to Manchester United, end of story.

"Besides, our rapport with his agent Fernando Felicevich is good.

"It always depends on the player. If Pogba and Vidal are happy to stay, then we will keep them."

Vidal joined Juve from Bayer Leverkusen in 2011.
