Montpellier have registered a narrow 2-1 home win against bottom club Brest in Ligue 1.
The defending French champions took the lead after 11 minutes as Marco Quinteros fired in from outside the box.
However, Brest were back on level terms eight minutes later through Florian Raspentino, who latched on to Bernard Mendy's pass and shot home from outside the Montpellier penalty area.
Marco Estrada then tried an effort from distance for the hosts but saw it turned away by Alexis Thebaux, before Charlison Benschop went close with a header for Brest.
Montpellier's Souleymane Camara tried his luck with a long-range effort in the opening minutes of the second half but in vain.
Thereafter, Brest started to have the better chances, as Benoit Lesoimier, Benschop, Florian Lejeune and Tripy Makonda all failed to make the most of their opportunities.
All those squandered chances came back to haunt the visitors as Montpellier scored their second and winning goal in the 74th minute.
Ahmed Kantari committed a foul on Daniel Congre inside his own penalty box, and Souleymane Camara successfully converted the penalty.
