French clubs to strike against super tax

Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs agree to strike against the government's plan to heavily tax high earners.

France's professional clubs in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 have announced that they will strike in protest at the government's plan for a new super tax.

The tax plan is for those earning more than £850,000 per year to be taxed at a rate of 75%, action against which was agreed among the clubs.

"There will be a weekend without a game at the end of the month of November," Sky Sports News quotes Jean-Pierre Louvel, president of the French professional clubs' union, as saying.

The weekend of games affected will be between November 29 and December 2.
