Preview: PEC Zwolle vs. ADO Den Haag - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Eredivisie clash between PEC Zwolle and ADO Den Haag, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Fresh off the back of ending a 16-game winless run in all competitions, ADO Den Haag make the journey to the MAC³PARK Stadion on Sunday to face PEC Zwolle.

Having won each of their last two home games, the hosts are in search of three consecutive league victories on their own turf for the first time since 2019.

Match preview

PEC Zwolle were unable to pick up a third league victory in a row as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Vitesse on Saturday.

Jesper Drost struck 10 minutes into the second period to cancel out Armando Broja's first-half effort, but Idrissa Toure came off the bench to net a last-gasp winner.

Having amassed 35 points from 31 games till date, Bert Konterman's men are in 13th place, nine points ahead of their nearest challengers.

With only three games left, The Blauwvingers are now mathematically safe, and they will be spending an eighth consecutive campaign in the top flight next term.

While Sunday's hosts can no longer match their best finish of ninth place in that time, maximum points from their remaining fixtures would see them equal their second-best points tally of 44.

ADO Den Haag ended a 15-game winless Eredivisie run in some style as they put Feyenoord to the sword in a 3-2 victory on Sunday.

Ruud Brood's men were behind after just three minutes, but they responded with a leveller from Jonas Arweiler, before a brace from Abdenasser El Khayati put them in the driving seat.

Nicolai Jorgensen netted what later proved to be a mere consolation goal with 20 minutes left on the clock as De Ooievaars held on for just their third win of the campaign.

Sunday's visitors are now six points from safety so just like last time out, anything but a win spells the end of their top-flight status.

Team News

The home side are almost laid to bare bones for the fixture with up to seven players ruled out for the visit of Den Haag.

Destan Bajselmani, Thomas Buitink, and Chirino Daijiro are all sidelined through muscular injuries with no timetable yet for the return of any of them.

Joining the aforementioned trio on the treatment table are Virgil Misidjan, Immanuel Pherai, Eliano Reijnders, and Sai van Wermeskerken.

Dario Del Fabro is expected to miss a fifth league game on the spin as the Italian remains out with a hamstring injury.

The away team will also have to cope with the absence of Peet Bijen after he pulled up with an ankle injury back in October.

PEC Zwolle possible starting lineup:
Zetterer; Nakayama, Van Polen, Kersten, Paal; Huiberts, Lam, Drost; Tedic, Benson, Clement

ADO Den Haag possible starting lineup:
Koopman; Familio-Castillo, Kemper, Zuiverloon, Van Ewijk; Pinas, Vejinovic, Pinas; Bourard, Kramer, Besuijen

We say: PEC Zwolle 2-1 ADO Den Haag

Den Haag managed to buy themselves a bit of time with their surprise victory against Feyenoord last time out, which delayed the confirmation of their exit from the Eredivisie. We are backing the home side to come out on top in this one, putting an end to the visitors' tenure in the top flight.
