Billy Jones is happy to have scored his first goal for West Bromwich Albion during the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United yesterday.

Billy Jones has said that he is happy to have opened his goalscoring account for West Bromwich Albion during the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United yesterday.

The 25-year-old, who joined the club in June 2011, scored the equalising goal for the Baggies, leaving them eighth in the Premier League table.

The defender told Sky Sports News: "We always talked about how good teams don't lose three on the bounce it was nice to stop the rot.

"We all know the first half wasn't acceptable but we showed good character in the second half and I think we at least deserved a draw.

"I am just relieved. I have had chances which I have fluffed and the keepers have made some saves. I am happy to get the first one and will hopefully get some more now."

Jones had previous spells with Preston North End and Crewe Alexandra.
