Brentford's Alfie Mawson to remain at Wycombe Wanderers until summer

Brentford defender Alfie Mawson extends his loan stay at Wycombe Wanderers until the end of the current campaign.

Brentford defender Alfie Mawson has extended his loan stay at Wycombe Wanderers until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has played 22 times for the Chairboys and scored one goal since joining the club at the start of the current campaign.

"Alfie had never played a Football League game before he came to us and slotted into the team like a seasoned professional from the very first day," Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth told the club's website.

"His performances have been of a consistently high standard and it's great for Wycombe Wanderers that we're able to keep him and aid his development for the whole season.

"We have a great relationship with Brentford and would like to thank them for entrusting us with one of their young talents and allowing him to stay with us."

Mawson is eligible to play for Wycombe in the League Two playoffs should the club make them.
