Arsene Wenger: 'Theo Walcott is mentally strong, despite injury blow'

Arsene Wenger insists that Theo Walcott will come back from a six-month absence "as strong as ever".

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that Theo Walcott is handling his latest injury blow "well", despite being ruled out for at least six months.

The North London outfit confirmed that Walcott will miss the rest of the season, as well as England's World Cup campaign in Brazil this summer.

The 24-year-old ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee during last weekend's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup third round.

"Theo is handling it as well as you can when you have had such a shock because he's mentally strong, he's very balanced as a person and he can put it into perspective," Wenger told the club's official website. "We know that he will have the dedication and the serious attitude to come back as strong as ever."

Arsenal sit at the top of the Premier League table after 20 games.
