FA to contact Queens Park Rangers, Chelsea over Branislav Ivanovic incident

The Football Association will speak to both Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea after Branislav Ivanovic was struck on the head by an object during Sunday's Premier League match at Loftus Road.

The Football Association will speak to Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea after Blues defender Branislav Ivanovic was struck on the head by an object that was thrown from the stands at Loftus Road on Sunday.

The object, which appeared to be a cigarette lighter, was apparently thrown by a QPR supporter moments after Cesc Fabregas's late goal in the Premier League clash, which finished 1-0 to the Blues.

The FA has said that both clubs will be contacted regarding the incident.

It is thought that the FA will wait for referee Andre Marriner's match report before deciding whether to take action.

QPR could be hit with a fine as punishment for failing to control their supporters.
