Arsenal reportedly emerge as the favourites to secure a loan deal for Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard before the end of January.

Arsenal are reportedly expected to win the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard.

The Norway international had been expected to spend a second season on loan at Real Sociedad before Zinedine Zidane recalled him to the Los Blancos first-team squad.

However, the 22-year-old has remained as a fringe member of the group, making just five starts and four substitutes outings in all competitions.

Having requested a temporary exit from the Bernabeu, Sport suggests that Odegaard is now likely to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.

The report claims that Arsenal are just 'one step away' from concluding a loan deal, edging out the likes of Real Sociedad and Sevilla for his signature.

The two clubs are no strangers to doing business, with Dani Ceballos having spent the last 18 months in North London on a similar arrangement.
