Deadline day key events
Adrien Rabiot 'sets out wage demands' amid Arsenal, Man United links
Manchester United and Arsenal have reportedly been informed that they will need to offer £220,000 a week to sign French international Adrien Rabiot.
The 29-year-old midfielder became a free agent this summer following the expiration of his contract with Serie A giants Juventus.
Although Rabiot was offered new terms to remain in Turin, the parties could not reach an agreement, leading to his departure from the club after five years.
The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer with the likes of Man United, Arsenal and Newcastle credited with interest in his services.
How many players do Arsenal want to sell next summer?
Arsenal are already planning for the next summer transfer window, with sporting director Edu placing three first-team player's names on the chopping block, according to a report.
Mikel Arteta and Edu are looking to continue to refresh their squad next year after managing to recoup around £70m from selling players during the recent transfer window.
Among those who departed the Emirates Stadium this summer were Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham for £27m, with an additional £7m in add-ons, and Eddie Nketiah moved to Crystal Palace for £25m.
Aaron Ramsdale was acquired by Southampton for £18m and all of Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira and Karl Hein were sent out on season-long loans.
Arsenal 'suffered emphatic rejection' after enquiry over Bayern Munich star
Arsenal reportedly failed in their attempts to sign three high-profile players this summer before securing a last-minute deal for Raheem Sterling on transfer deadline day.
The Gunners have finished as Premier League runners-up for the past two seasons, pushing Manchester City to a final-day showdown in the most recent campaign.
Throughout the summer transfer window, the North Londoners were linked with moves for several players, particularly attacking reinforcements, such as Brentford's Ivan Toney and Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres.
In the end, Mikel Arteta's side spent around £80m on five new acquisitions, securing the signatures of David Raya, Riccardo Calafiori, Neto, Mikel Merino, and Raheem Sterling.
Arsenal to beat Tottenham? Spurs 'worried' about £68m hijack
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly concerned that either Arsenal or Manchester City could hijack their proposed £68m deal for Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze.
The 26-year-old was thought to have been a summer target for several top clubs after a stellar 2023-24 season, in which he scored 11 goals and set up four more in 27 Premier League matches.
Even though Eze's contract at Selhurst Park does not expire for another three seasons, the Eagles would have been powerless had an interested party triggered his release clause, thought to be worth £68m.
However, no club made a move before that option expired, and Eze has since started the 2024-25 season as he means to go on with two goals from four matches across all tournaments.
